What a wonderful Christmas here @ the Calais' house. Danielle was home and my parents shared the holidays with us. One of the most touching moments of our time together was when Sydni gave us the presents she had for us. She wrote poems for each of us. I opened my gift first and read it outloud, with a little break in my voice. (All I knew was that I better read it quick or else... I would lose it.) Then Mike had his turn. It began to get tougher. Dan read hers having to stop after each sentence due to tears. By now, we are all wiping our eyes, even my dad. Gavin was beginning to cry heavily. It was his turn now to read his. He began to sob. We were actually all crying now. To hear my daddy say that he was so glad to have shared that moment with us was priceless. It was a Christmas that will always be so special in my heart.
We are packing up to head to Lake Tahoe in a couple of days and I'll have to see Danielle off again. That's always the hardest part of my visits there, or her visits here. To leave. But God always picks up my heart after the separation and reminds me that all will be ok.
My UPS guy should have my new Canon to me on Wednesday! Just in time for the trip. (I may have to give him a little peck on the cheek when I see him!) I won't have a clue what buttons to press on the camera, but I'll have it!
There are 12 of us family members going together. Yep, and my XXL will come! I have some kits planned, just gotta match up some embelly's to my paper and pictures. As always, I have so much to do! Have a great week my fellow Junkies!

and Then...

I just couldn't believe it today when I saw the space shuttle piggy backing over us! How awesome! It was perfect timing too... Kelli drove up at the store and I jumped in my car and went over to the Subway in our parking lot and got a real good picture. Snow & shuttle in less than 24 hours! My heart was rushing cause I was so excited!

Thanks Karen for texting me about it, and thanks Lisa for calling me to tell me to look outside! I loved it!

Can you believe?

4 years ago we missed the snow here, and we were so bummed. Tonight was perfect to have snow because we were having our employee appreciation gumbo @ the house and the kids were able to play outside in the snow! It was just beautiful. I have a cute little picture to post so that you can see our snowman. She has quiet a few "feathers." But sure cute...

Are your kids hoping for no school? Mine are!

I've been at my mom & dad's for the last couple of days and have been working on Christmas gifts. It's so much fun to be here, relaxing, playing with paper & scissors. The first night that I was here, we spent on the floor, gazing at all our stuff, never even making it to our scrapbook tables. The second day, I began making a little progress, and now, I'm very satisfied with what I've gotten accomplished. Not quiet ready to go home. Not sure if it will be today or tomorrow. Everything seems to be covered on the Texas side.
Yesterday when I talked to Danielle, she told me that she was counting down the days. Not as much for us, but for the traditional seafood gumbo that we have at my father-in-laws for Christmas. Ummm... The holidays are coming so fast. Geez.
How are you doing on getting your gifts made? You are scrappers, so you gotta have at least 1 gift that you are making for someone.
Have you been keeping your eye on the website? The blogs that our SJ Designers have are so much fun. They are very talented ladies. For their first challenge they were all given different kits but each one had a few items that were the same. We wanted to see the creativity that they had for these items that may not have gone with the rest of their kits. For instance, they each recieved the Teresa Collins punch out journaling spot things, the Scenic Route punch out arrows, a 4x6 page protector, huge photo corners and acrylic items. You gotta see what each one came up with. All totally different. One lady used the photo corners and made a Christmas tree! We are so blessed to have them join our team!
If you don't get our emails, I want you to know that the table sale is still going! Things are now marked down to 40% on them and still other 40% specials throughout the store. Also, when you purchase a gift card for at least 30 bucks, you will recieve a free gift. It's pretty cool gift too. It's only 1 gift per gift card. Anyways, we hope to see you soon...

SJ Designers..

Last night was so cool. All of our "2009 Junkie Designers" met at the store for a group meeting. None of them knew what we were going to do, and guess what? They made the ornaments for our Christmas tree this year! Our own Junked Up version! They are awesome ladies that will just inspire you to death! They will be added to the website in the next few days. You'll be able to finally click on the Design Team little thing and visit their blogs!
Hope to see you Friday a.m. @ 7:30 for lots of savings!

Not Enough I'm Told...

Customers have told me that I don't blog enough. Here's one for you, Faith! I know I don't yall, and I apologize. I hope to blog more here soon. I'm getting ready for a long week. We gotta do inventory... Yuck... We are open today, Monday, Nov. 24th, but then closed on Tues, Wed & Thursday. But hey, it'll be worth your wait to be the first ones there on the "Day after Thanksgiving!" Our 50% rack will be jam packed, our tables will be up to 40% off, and then we are going to do a sale that you have tremendously loved before, Buy 1 printed paper, get the exact paper for FREE!) It all starts @ 7:30a.m. The Christmas spirit will be on! Are you even ready for Christmas? It's freaking me out that it's so close. I have alot to do!
We had fun with Vicki Boutin this weekend. She taught tremendous techniques. I have some ordering to do now with her having taught all this stuff. I will just have to slip in the office during inventory. (Escaping for a little bit!) Yeah, Vicki said that she will be back next year. She's another cool one. We didn't have enough time to visit. We must have talked without taking a breath all the way to the airport. So we have some more to learn about each other. Martha Lawlar took some good pictures for us. So as soon as she forwards them to me, I'll send them out here on the blog. I can't wait to see you on Friday... Have a happy, a great, a thankful Thanksgiving! We are thankful for your continued support!

Waiting...

Hey ladies!
I was overwhelmed at the response I got when I put out the call for a "Junkie" design team. We are honored that so many of you tried out. Thanks to everyone that put so much time into designing your pages. To mix black & white pictures together with colored pictures was surely a challenge. You totally out did yourselves! Thank the Lord in heaven that I did not have to judge. The prior Memory Maker Master that judged spent a ton of time at the store taking notes on each layout and on all the details and criteria. My photographer judge was glad to see each layout and the way her kids pictures were designed on the pages. The third judge had many details on her clipboard as she also studied the layouts. When tallying up the results (in no particular order) here are the names of the "2009 Junkie Designers!"

Lizzie Oakley
Deanna Middleton
Heidi Mansion
Robin Emswiler &
Laura Sexton
Congratulations ladies! We are so excited to spend the year working with you.

The Honorable Mentions are:
Rhonda Davis
Lisa Maxwell &
Rene Nowalk
(I will call each of you personally tomorrow with the details.)

All of the winning layouts will be displayed at the store through the end of the year. Come by and take a look at them. Our designers will be working on the first group project this Monday and we'll be ready to display these on the "Day after Thanksgiving."
To hear the excitement over the phone today as I called the winners was priceless. Thank you!

To all of the other sweet ladies, your entry pages are for you to keep. All you have to do, is switch the photos with the ones that you love. We appreciate you too! Your pages were all incredible.
I cannot thank you enough!

Karen Russell is one "Cool" chick...

We had a great time with Karen last weekend. That woman wore me out! I picked her up from the airport early on Thursday and spent the day with her cruisin' around. We had dinner and she was able to spend time with the kids, fiona-(dog), us & her camera. On Friday morning it became a whirlwind. So much fun and excitement. I was able to sit in on the "Photography Class" and I was so glad that I did. I learned so much... Like, see below...

Why were my pictures coming out blue? Still don't know...I forgot everything that I learned. All I could do the next day was fumble with my camera. BUT, now I am not scared of my manual or with the buttons on the camera. That's a HUGE accomplishment for me! So, here are just a couple of more photos...

The only thing, no pictures of us together. Just had to burn these memories in my brain! Thank you ladies for coming out and taking the classes @ our store. (Karen, just call me Beehive.) Ha...

Next weekend we have another great artist visiting from Canada. These ladies don't come around often. Hope to have you join us. See post below...

Beauty...

Hey yall,
We’ve had a few changes on our calendar as some of you have noticed due to Mr. IKE. There will be no weekend crop. We’ve changed this to a Friday night “BREAST CANCER AWARENESS” crop. The cost is $15.00, which includes sodas, chocolate, refreshments and a few little goodies at your seat. Not part of, but ALL proceeds go towards the cause. The foundation we are supporting through our joint contributions is the Image Reborn Foundation. The mission of this foundation is to provide no-cost healing retreats to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The web site for this great foundation is: www.imagerebornfoundation.org.
Now for Saturday, we have 3- Mini Class Take-n-Makes. Each one has it’s separate prices and again ALL of the proceeds will make up a joint contribution from you and the Junkie (as we are donating all supplies for these Mini Classes). Anyone of these would make a great gift for a loved one or a wonderful keepsake for yourself. All you need to do is come by with your camera, snap a picture, and bring your Cash for the Cause!

“Beautiful Bird” - $5.00

“Beautiful Accordian Tin” - $10.00

“All Natural Pocket Calendar” - $3.00

We will be raffling off a “Beautiful” basket too! It retails for a bit over $100.00!
If you purchase one of the Glitz Crown Roller Doodles we will also give all the proceeds to the foundation. See how much fun this is!
As I get older this is a cause that my heart grieves for. With this being the first year that we have done something like this, I am really excited about it!

A new week...

How nice to blog from the house! WOW! Power!

You know, all things come out for the good in our lives. We had a great sermon at church today talking about all this.. It was incredible.. I wanted to share with you a few different versions of the scripture that we focused on.
From Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

"For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you," says the Lord, "thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. "

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

We just got power here at the house like 1 hour ago, Sunday night, and I was thrilled, but could have gone longer, but geez, the traffic lights were about to drive me crazy! Stop, start, stop, start... so many things to learn from this experience. Right? One of my worker bees, Milissa, lost the roof of her house, completely. Yall, please keep her and her family in your prayers.

On another note, it's so good to be back at the store. We have checked in new Basic Grey, new My Mind's Eye, Cloud 9 and a bunch more. Hope to see you soon!

One more thing... please also keep our friends @ Novel Approach in your prayers. They are precious ladies. Pray that they recover quick from Ike and back in business soon!

Praise God ...

I hope you are all well after the storm. It's so different when you know things like this are happening in your city. It hurts, doesn't it? I met neighbors that I hadn't met before and cooked outside with them, introduced "Fiona" to the other dogs, and best of all~my kids played together the whole time! They rode bikes, 'outside', which they never do. They had play dough contest, they watched movies, they pushed each other in the wheel barrel, slept in the living room, and even got along. We had great family time. I think we all learned a few things from IKE.
We haven't had electricity at the store or at home (like so many of you). But yall, I can live easily at home with none, but oh I so desperately wanted the lights at the store to come on. I would have to keep telling myself, but it's yours Oh God, not mine. But with all that said, today I had spent the store unpacking UPS & FEDEX boxes just waiting, went home and then @ 7pm my husband called me and said "We have power at the store!" I jumped right back into my car and we are steadily getting things up and running and opening again tomorrow. Still plywood in the window but who cares about that?? Some of you remember not once but twice when I was out of electricity and we were still open :)
Slowly but surely, things are returning to normal. When you are out and about, stop by and share your story about the storm. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Hurricane Update...

Hello Junkies,
This is Danielle. My mom can't post on the blog for a while because she has no electricity and cannot get onto the internet. I know that many of you guys have the same problem. But, for those of you who don't and can get on the internet, I have a pretty upsetting update for you. Unfortunately, the store did not weather the storm well. The store will be closed for repair until further notice. I will be updating the blog as often as I can get in touch with my mom. Because of the phone issues in Houston, our conversations are few and far between. Also, as of now, the Vicki Boutin classes are cancelled. I don't think my mom will be able to get the store up and running again by then. I will post and let you all know if she does somehow get up and running again soon, and the classes can resume. But as for now, please just keep the store in your prayers. Thank the Lord my family is all safe. I hope you all are also safe and well.
Danielle

Sent to me...

Prayer for Hurricane Season

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of danger over which we have no control; the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing time. By Your fatherly care, may we receive protection from the calamities common to this area.
O Lord my God, in you I take refuge. Psalm 7:1

Labor Day...

I wanted to let you all know that we'll be closed for Labor Day to spend a little time with our families. For me, it's my last full weekend with Danielle and back to California she will go. I guess I really never thought that my kids would leave home. But they DO! Seems like her time just went so fast. It'll be Christmas before I get to hug her again. (Thank the Lord for webcams!) To think that Christmas is right around the corner. Geez. I will be starting my annual Calendar Class in September. It's like a 3 month course. The calendar will then be ready to give as a gift, or to keep for yourself by November. My dad always wants a new calendar each year. He loves them. Junkie News...

Home from San Francisco, and a storm brewing up in the Gulf. What a change. The storm gave us a great opportunity to be home with the whole family. I think I may sit at my desk and do a little something with paper & scissors too!

We are getting excited for Janelle's visit next weekend for the 7Gypsies classes. I need to check the class sign-ups to see how many spaces are left. There are 3 classes and I think the first one has only 1 spot if that. The second and third classes I think have like 2-3 spots available. For those who have signed up for all 3, get to come to the private "Trunk Show" on the Friday night, August 15th, from 7-8:30pm.

After Janelle teaches, I will be announcing our next "celebrity guest teacher!" She will be coming from Canada... some of you may know who she is just by saying that. Especially, if you are a Scrapbook Idea Magazine Junkie! She is always published in Creating Keepsakes & Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbooks Etc. I will be giving another hint about her soon!

AND...Guess what?
We are going to be planning a cruise for you in April or May, '09. I wonder who we will have join us to teach for that??? Dates and prices will soon follow.

In September sometime I will begin our "annual" calendar class. It's one of my favorites to teach because it's the coolest gift that you can give to your loved ones! My dad wants one every year. We got in these cute-cute little "25 days before Christmas boxes" from Karen Foster. It's a great tradition to begin with your children. Products are really coming in now. UPS and Fed-Ex will not like us in the days to come. The new Teresa Collins, Making Memories, Pink Paisley, Jenni Bowlin, My Sentiments Exactly, Karen Foster, Tattered Angels and more! Most of this came in while I was gone.

Is this post long enough? It's long overdue! Have a great Tuesday and all will be up and running @ The Scrapbook Junkie tomorrow. Come by if you get a chance!

On the road again...

Or should I say "In the air again?" How exciting to be flying away with Mike for the next several days. 20 years together, 15 of them married. One half of my life! We are headed to San Francisco! I have many pictures on my mind. That's my kind of souvenir. What's better than that?
Wanted to tell you that we do still have room in our "Junkie Summer Camp" which begins on Monday, August 4th. It's from 10-2, Mon-Thurs, for $125.00. We have soooo many projects for our Younger Junkies to do. They just have to bring the basic supplies and a sack lunch! If you have any more questions, just call the store.
Also, we are still having sign-ups for our guest teacher from 7Gypsies! She will be teaching 3 most awesome projects on August 16th. If you are a Gypsie lover and want to take all 3 classes then you will get a private invite to the "Trunk Show" on Friday night the 15th. How cool! To take advantage of the full package it would cost you $120.00 or you can purchase the individual classes separately. (If you cannot make it, kits can be purchased as well.) If you want to know more details about these classes then call the store.
Thanks to all of you who came out to the Garage Sale... It was awesome. There was barely room to turn around! A beautiful sight and guess what? No camera!
Can't wait to hear from you!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Just a few more days....

Don't forget to mark your calendars! The awaited "GARAGE SALE" is this Saturday... It all starts at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 5:00 p.m.
You will find stuff soooo cheap... It's always a BIG day! For those of you that didn't get to reserve a spot to sell your stuff this time we will do another garage sale at the beginning of next year. But remember, only cash or checks will be accepted for garage sale items.
Have fun... See you then...

Home Again... For a little bit...

Hey Yall,
So glad to hear how many of you came to shop while we were away at CHA. We enjoyed the show, didn't seem as crowded this year. Spent an extra day and night and went to see the "White Sox." It's an outdoor field and the slogan there in Chicago is the "Windy City." I can promise you that there was NO wind for the game. It was so HOT! I have a Starbucks mug collection and have never bought the Chicago one. I found it today and bought it and told Lisa that I will use a sharpie to scratch out the "Windy City" part. Anyways, the show was fun. Was able to see a bunch of familiar faces, a whole lot of new products and took so many pictures in hopes to do some great layouts when the products arrive! We recieved the Glitz papers last week, and had a call already today for another vendor that has product ready to ship. We'll have a few trickles and them boom, it will all start again. Every year we get to take pictures with the "Celebrities" of the scrapbooking industry but have never had the privilege of taking a photo with this fella.
Just look at how handsome he is!

The CRICUT in real life!
And he is the color of the store! Just needs a touch of orange! I have a few surprises in store for you so watch for the coming emails and blog entries! Great fun coming to the "Junkie" soon!
I will only have a few days at the store, then my honey and I are going to San Francisco to celebrate our anniversary! I cannot wait.
Thanks for your support and friendship,
Beth

Update...

Hey everyone. Danielle here.
In all of my mom's hustle and bustle to get all ready to go out of town, to the show in Chicago, to get the latest and greatest for all of you, she totally forgot to post the happenings at the store for while she is gone. We still have the tables in the back full of merchandise, all at 40% off! Also, for every $25 that you spend (this includes sale merchandise), we will put your name into the Junk Pail and my mom will pull a winner when she returns, for a nice gift certificate! Also, we still have just a few spots left for the garage sale. Call the store for further details. Don't forget to stop in for these great savings. The sale will be going on through ??? The drawing will be held on Sunday after the store closes.

It's a New Week...

I hope you all had a great week. I ended up having the whole week off. I had my neice over for the week and we took her to Schlitterbahn, Kemah & the movies. Oh yeah, and Deer Park's snowcones. She enjoyed some time scrapbooking at my house too. Now, in the morning I'll hear the alarm screaming at me saying, "Wake-Up!"

I just wanted to say a quick hello, and to tell you that we've extended our table sale through next Sun., July 20th. But wait... this week, let's do 40% off the junk on the tables. (No stamps on these clearance items.) I have been pre-ordering so much stuff that it's kinda freakin' me out! So we gotta "Move-it, Move-it, Move-it!"

Thurday morning I leave for CHA so I'll announce a cool giveaway this Wednesday for the time that I'm gone. I must say that the "Junkie-Bees" do such a wonderful job taking care of the store. They just want me to go and order more. One of the best parts about this trip to Chicago though is that I bought us tickets to see the "WHITE SOX!" There is nothing better that I would rather do while there (except, the obvious, to see Wicked), so I am just thrilled! And the pizza. Lisa and I eat at this one place at least 3-4 times each time we go there. It gets to be expensive so we have to share coffee in the mornings! (inside joke!)

Remember that tomorrow morning we have our "Garage Sale" sign ups. Call @ 10:00 a.m. if you want to reserve your space. We will tell you the details when you call.
Hope to see you this week while I'm at the store. Come visit!
Beth

Junkie Update...

We are having a table sale yall, and it goes on through Thursday evening. This is the first time that I've done this since the Kemah store. We have like 9 of our tables in the crop room full of stuff. We have a bunch of things on one of the tables that would make great handmade Christmas gifts. Bare recipe boxes and other bare junk. I always try and make my gifts and it seems that I am busting my butt to get them all done in time. I tell ya, the stress of being a scrapbooker and paper crafter! We'll put it all back out for regular price on Thursday evening due to our Friday night crop.
Now, GARAGE SALE: The date for our garage sale is July 26th. For those of you that want to rent 1/2 of a table, we will begin signing up for that this coming Monday, July 14th. The cost for 1/2 of a table is 10 bucks. These spots sell very very quick, so mark the date if you want to sell some of your junk to earn new junk. It's proven to be a great event. At the time of you renting your spot, we will give you all the details of how things have to be priced and so forth. For all of you that don't sign up, you gotta stop by on the day of the sale and save big! This is something that we do twice a year. Remember to call this Monday, July 14th for a table. They usually go pretty fast.
We have great things in store for you real soon. Keep an eye out watching!
I'm sorry that I haven't posted for a while, but I'm back on track now. Thanks for taking a minute and getting your update!
Beth

Monday Evening...

Don't forget that tomorrow, Monday evening, from 4-7 we are having our "Meet the Teachers & Sales Rep's Evening." They have all planned make-n-takes for you to do.
Our birthday crop was fun and I have a couple of pictures to share with you...
I gotta tell you this story though. I thought I would bake our croppers a cake. I really don't cook very much. I kinda forgot how since we've opened the store! hahah... anyways, after the two layers came out of the oven, I let it cool like I am supposed to. When I tried to flip the bottom layer of the cake onto the plate it had a little problem and kinda broke in a few places. So I patched it up with icing. All the kids were watching me. They felt sorry for me. hahah... So I put the top layer on and it was slightly crooked so I slid it in place. Took quiet a bit of icing to fix all the mishaps... Now we were off to the store. The cake plate was on the floor board between Dani's feet. Ok, ready for this? I made a quick stop at a light and oops, the cake slid and the top of the cake plate flipped over. The cake was now turned upside down in the lid of the plate. The kids were with me and boy did that make for a good laugh. The Junkie Bees @ the store couldn't wait to see my cake and taste it because I told them I was making it out of love... hahah... so here comes the picture...

It tasted pretty good though! This is what I would call a "Junkie Style Cake!"

I wanted to share a picture of our birthday croppers too!

Sweet, sweet ladies... Thanks for choosing us to spend your evening with!

Monday, June 23rd...

Hey yall,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a very productive weekend at the store. Our office at the store had a complete makeover. I don't know how to act. I feel FREE!!! My honey worked all weekend trying to get all the furniture built and put in it's place. And he did! Our croppers were so sweet on Saturday to let him join them as he spread things out and put bookshelves together. I'm so organized due to another sweet friend of mine. It looked like a tornado had hit the office before this weekend. So, yeah! Why didn't I take before and after pictures? Anyways, I'm so thankful to be able to have a place for you to come, visit, share your memories and to enjoy yourselves.
Our special tomorrow will be... with ANY purchase we will put your name into a drawing. If your name is drawn, you will be able to choose 5 items from our "Junkie Box." It's a fun way for us to say that we appreciate you...

June 16th...

I hope you all had a great Father's Day with the men in your lives. It couldn't have been better to take my dad to the Yankees game. It was a nail biter on Friday night. We ate from the time we left the house until the time we left the game. You name it, we had it! haha. Today was not good for the Stros. I had to just quit watching it. (not often does that happen.) Mike went deep sea fishing out of Venice, La. He had a great time. Caught lots of big fish!
I'm sure you are waiting for tomorrows special. Let's see...
How about:
Buy one sheet of printed paper, get the second one of the exact same 1/2 off. We have SOOO much new paper. It's crazy. What a wonderful June! It's a fun celebration! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support. You are so appreciated.
Don't forget to drop off a handmade Birthday Card for the Junkie. They'll be judged and the winner will get a birthday present from us.
I can't chat much because I'm giving a "Tony's" party for the theatre junkies that are in our lives. It's the 3rd year for them to come together for Mike's yummy spagetti. This is the awards show that I use to say, "boring," and change the channel. But when it's your kids life, things in your heart change. Many flashes will be going on at the Calais' tonight. To hear them yelling, clapping and laughing is most awesome.
Blessings to you this week and always...

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Enjoy...

Have a great day with the men in your lives, may it be daddys, husbands, brothers, uncles, grandpas or friends! Thanks for a wonderful weekend @ the store. We enjoyed having you!

The things they keep coming up with amazes me.
Just more JUNK to deal to you.

Have a blessed weekend..

As for CRAZINESS, on Friday, we had quite a surprise 3 doors down @ the Dollar Crazy store. Danielle and Kelli heard a crash and ran out of the front door, and low and behold, an old lady driver ran her car into the Dollar store. Her car was IN the store. I'll share this picture with you and show you how scared the girls were. WOW!

June 1st begins our birthday month. It's so funny because my family and friends know that I like my Birthday to last for the whole month of February! Why shouldn't the "Junkie" enjoy the whole month of June? 3 years serving your addiction - AWESOME! Some of you probably could use a little rehab! We are in the midst of making our birthday plans, but 1 thing that I can tell you for now is that, on Friday, June 27th, we will be having our "Birthday Crop" along with MIDNIGHT MADNESS! If you aren't able to make it into the crop, the midnight madness does include YOU! It'll be mad, that's for sure! Then on Saturday, June 28th, it's Party Time! When you spend $25.00 on regular priced merchandise you will then get to pop a balloon for your hidden savings. Our customers surely enjoy it! Will you party with us? Save the date...

AND.... "Young Junkie's Camp!" Our campers will be able to play with paper in all sorts of ways. The projects include an 8x8 summer album, birthday reminder calendar, family board book, paper crafted flower bouquet, clipboard, wall hanger, acrylic frame & a paper weight. Mother's Day...

Had a wonderful weekend in Lake Charles. Actually, the kids & I left on Thursday a.m. to head out. On Saturday, I was in charge of cooking the crawfish etoufee. 7 lbs. of it! Delicious, I must say. We surprised my mom, because she thought we were coming in on Saturday. She was also surprised when Dan gave her a slide show of family memories. It is the coolest! Shed some tears watching it! But one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend was the family baseball game. I am a baseball "Junkie." Myself and my girl "Kel" at the store totally love the Astros. I knew I had hired her for a reason! Anyways, I was able to cheer for the teams yesterday. Roy O., was played by Sydni. My dad was Berkman. Gavin played Biggio, and Dan was the slugger. There was also, Ausmus & A.Rod. (Yankee's). That's my dad's very favorite team. For Father's Day I am taking him to see the Yank's. I wanted to share a few pics of some of my favorite players. Mike was on the bench, so he didn't make the pictures! Ha.. He was actually in Lafayette.

Are you a baseball "Junkie" too? If so, call the store to sign up for our baseball crop on Friday, May 23rd from 6-Midnight. Special discounts given if you wear a baseball cap, and then even more discounts if you have both your baseball hat & shirt on! I cannot wait! I hope you all had a great weekend, and also a blessed week ahead.

NSD @ the "Junkie"

We began our festivities with a little goodie waiting for all of our croppers @ their seats. As they checked in we had a couple of more goodies for them. I couldn't believe that everyone had taken the day off from work. Scissors were busy and paper flying!

We had games, mini classes and a cool challenge. I think the challenge was one of my favorite parts. The creativity from each pod was incredible. Mike cooked delicious meals the whole time! Ha! Maybe gumbo next time??? We had prizes for both our croppers and customers. With that said, I want to congratulate those who won gift certificates!

Lisa Maxwell - $100 Molly Rainey - $50 Adriana Chicken - $50

Your fun $$$ is waiting for you. We will be calling all of our 7th shoppers in the next couple of days to congratulate them for their door prize also. Thank you all for all of the fun!

Beth

Glitz Fun!

We had a packed house and a great day & evening at the store yesterday. The Glitz Girls were wonderful and their classes were awesome! Thank you ladies!

With NSD coming right along, we will be finishing up the last touches of our plans. We cannot wait for not only our croppers, but our shoppers too. I'll be sending out an email on Monday, reminding you of all the fun that'll be going on at the Junkie. NSD is a great day for a scrapbooker, isn't it?

My Dan is home. It was great to wrap my arms around her and to know that we were all safely joined back together.

Have a Happy Happy Sunday!

Incredible Night!

Hey yall! It's been a while. Had so much to catch up at the store and just more and more ideas popping into our heads for NSD. For you gals that didn't get to join us, due to it selling out so quickly, you will have another opportunity to spend a weekend with us soon. Check out the calendar for June and you will see that we will be having our "Scrapbook Junkie Alternative" weekend. It's the same weekend as CKU, but for a much more reasonable fee. And again, we load you down with fun things and food! More details to come right after NSD.
I know many of you want to hear about the Rick Springfield concert. I thought that it would be ok, that it would be a nice evening, but geez, I never expected it to be that good! Yall, first of all, he doesn't look bad or old at all! (or is it that I'm growing in age too?) During the first song, we made our way to the front about 4 people away from the stage. He was rockin'. Just like he did when I saw him years ago. He can surely play that guitar. From the very beginning they teased us with "Jessie's Girl." Did you know that he had 17 top 40 hits. He was big in his day. Now for the good part. After a while, his guitar guy put Rick on a headset microphone, and into the crowd he came. You should have seen the women trying to touch him. It was crazy! I'm gonna leave it at that! Want to know more? Come by the store! Ha! So then he continued to climb into the crowd for a while and when he came back up front, his shirt was torn into shreds in the back. Ha. 40'ish yr. old women acting like teenagers! It was a sight to see!

So here it is...

And again...

What a wonderful weekend it was. At the beach, scrapbooking, laughing & eating! I was able to get so much done. I spent the first night working on my daughters birthday invites. She is a very "picky" girl, and it turned out that she loved them. Shocked me, really. Sydni is turning 13 in just a few days. Geez.. A Sleepover... BUT on the same day though, Dani comes home for her summer break, so yeah!
Sydni was in a play last night at her school. She did a wonderful job with her British accent. Then there was curtain call, and Sydni was the "Shining Star!" She was the last one to come out to take her bow, all by herself, and the crowd even clapped and yelled louder. Yep, tears falling out the side of my eyes while I took a few pictures. I was so proud of her. She yearns for a big part, and she had it! The Lord knows the desires of our hearts. She was just beautiful! Precious one.
I will be heading out of town again to go to Lake Charles. Have more to prepare for NSD. You girls that have signed up are really in for a treat! Also, it's time to see "Rick Springfield!" Ha... Then my party ends for a while. Back to work, regularly. I do look forward to it though. I still love walking into the store even after 3 years. (How many times have I told you that already?) With more new products still coming in, there is excitement in the air. So, have a good day and come back to visit soon!

As Promised...

Here are the pictures for Sunday's Mini Class, "Party Explosion Box." The class will be taught @ 3:00. It's only a $7.00 class fee. The supplies you will need are: Scissors, adhesive, glue dots, and liquid glue. You must call by Saturday to sign up. We will only be able to take 15 people. This is another great class for both kids and adults. Hope to have you join us!

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

Oops...

Yall, the "teens & tweens" class is on Saturday, the 12th! I had orignally said the 13th. Scratch that! Melissa will be teaching it from 10:00 - 12:30. The pictures are on the post below. So sorry for the date error! The girls will be making an autograph book which is perfect for pictures and your friends memorable messages. Also you will make a cute bank to stash all your summer cash! Only kids 8 and up. Because it is a younger audience, seating is very limited.
The supplies that you will need are:
A paper cutter, adhesive, scissors, black pen and a ruler.

I've been packing away, getting ready to "Retreat to the Beach" again. My clothes are not packed but my "Junk" is! I also have my mom and 2 aunts coming. Should I say this on my blog? (depends) Ha... the "old ladies" are a trip! A great nickname for them. Then I'll be home for a couple of days and then you'll never guess who a friend & I are going to see?? This will show if you are about the same age as us. "Rick Springfield!" Ha...He will be at Delta Downs in Vinton, La., if anyone wants to come! Isn't that funny.. I'll try and get a picture or two!

I have another picture of a mini class to show you tomorrow night, coming on Sunday... Precious.
Have a happy rest of the week..

Amazed...

I tell you, I had a feeling that our National Scrapbook Day would sell out, but in 1 day and 2 hours! Geez. And then, this weekend is our weekend crop and it only has like 2 spots left. You all must be in the scrapbooking mood. I am too! I spent the "entire" day, about 10 hours organizing pictures and matching paper. I hadn't really brought anything home from the store since Teresa's stuff came in, but when Heidi Grace, Fancy Pants & Scenic Route came in, I kinda lost control. I'm gonna get to use it too! After I get to play on a few pages, we will then get busy just cutting and getting all of our NSD ready. You gals coming will be in for a treat!

I wanted to remind you about the "Jewelry" that will be displayed at the store this Sunday from 1-4. Remember, all the proceeds goes to missions in India. I've bought a few already! ooch!

Also, Melissa will be our new "Teens & Tweens" teacher. She has a few classes coming up for your girls ages 8 & up. The first one coming is on April 13th, from 10:00-12:30. Check it out. The girls will be making a Bank & an Autograph-Photo album.

National Scrapbook Day Details

Many of you have asked what will be going on at The Scrapbook Junkie for "National Scrapbook Day." Let me just say that it won't be DAY, it will be WEEKEND!

For all customers:
* The first 25 customers, each day, will receive an Imaginise stamp for free.
* Every 7th receipt will receive a door prize.
* We will have drawings for a $100, & two - $50 gift certificates. Your name will go into these drawings for each $25.00 you spend, (including clearance items.) I like it better this way, because YOU choose what YOU want. Drawings to be held first thing on Sunday when the store opens.
AND...
*As you walk through the door you will draw from a junk pail full of 40% coupons for a featured vendor discount. For instance, 1 Heidi Swapp item of your choice @ 40% off.
(No stamps on gift certificate give away, 40% item special or clearance items.)

We will also have a "WEEKEND CROP." If you've ever been to our "Scrapbook Junkie Alternative" which we have on the same weekend as CKU, or our "Lock In" then you know that we've had a blast and get a whole bunch of goodies. Let me tell you a little bit about it, for those of you who haven't heard about these functions.

* Crop hours: Friday, May 2nd, 10:00 am - 2:00 am & Saturday, May 3rd, 10:00 am - 2:00 am. Wow! 28 hours of crop time!
* Dinner on Friday night and both lunch & dinner on Saturday. (fajitas, to name one - yummm.) No need to get up during the day for anything! Also, sweets & salts, and plenty to drink. Even Starbucks coffee will be brewed! We are here to serve you!

But wait! That's not all! (Mike and I always say this during infomercials.)

* Gift certificate giveaways
* Door prizes
* Games
* Mini Classes
* Challenges
* Cool gifts at your seat waiting for you... even a personal one!

But wait! (Haha.) Not all secrets will be revealed until then... You will be well pleased.

The cost for this event will be $85.00. Sign-Ups begin on Monday, March 31st @ 10:00 am. Trust us, you won't be sorry! Ask anyone who has attended either one of these before!

Just one more thing: If you are signed up for our emails and are not getting them, then send us an email @ beth@thescrapbookjunkie.net. Supposedly, sbcglobal sees it as spam until you accept it??? Many customers have told me that they do find them in their bulk mail. And also the houston.rr's come back to us. Please inform us of any changes.

I'll send out other announcements later, due to this one being soooo long!
